Luminaire IT Specialist

The Information Technology Specialist plays a key role in fulfilling multiple aspects of the Luminaire experience, having broad responsibilities related to the support of technology utilized by the entire Luminaire community, from our public-facing website to the proprietary database software used at all levels of Luminaire operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with the management of local and wide area networks.
  • Assists with the management of the enterprise database (Luminaire Information System).
  • Supports cloud-based enterprise email and VoIP phone system.
  • Specifies and procures computing equipment on an anticipatory or as-needed basis.
  • Creates training materials and disseminates information regarding the use of company computing resources.
  • Holds one-on-one, small group, or classroom-style training sessions as necessary.
  • Ensures the security of proprietary enterprise data.
  • Works with the various departments at Luminaire to discover their needs and understand processes in order to structure the IT environment to maximize productivity and/or customer experience.
  • Becomes well versed in all technical components used to support processes within the company.
  • Is prepared to assume key responsibilities of the IT Department Manager in their absence.
  • Performs additional duties as requested/required
Education and experience:
  • 2 years of Computer Science and/or 2 years employment in the field
  • Bachelor's (Preferred)
  • Windows: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Customer Service: 2 years (Required)
  • iOS systems: 2 years (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Should possess high-level understanding of principles of wired and wireless networking, especially with Meraki hardware, virtual private networks, the Freshdesk help desk, GSuite, and Office 365 administration, web and SaS services, cloud-based VoIP telephony, computing environments including the following operating systems: Mac OSX, Windows, Windows Server, Windows Remote Desktop, VMware, knowledge of computing hardware, NAS storage, and hybrid on-site/off-site backup and recovery.
  • Must possess exceptional listening, teaching, and public interfacing skills.
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Fluency in Spanish is considered a plus.
